Listeria monocytogenes rarely causes illness in dogs but can result in symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting. Even if asymptomatic, infected dogs can spread the bacteria to humans. People handling the contaminated products risk infection, especially if they fail to wash their hands thoroughly. Symptoms in humans include fever, muscle aches, and nausea, with severe cases potentially leading to more serious health issues. Pregnant women, children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable.
Salmonella infection in dogs can cause lethargy, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Pets can also carry the bacteria without showing symptoms, spreading it to other animals or humans. In humans, Salmonella exposure can lead to symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and fever, with more serious complications possible in rare cases.
Consumers should dispose of the recalled products safely, ensuring children, pets, and wildlife cannot access them. It’s advised to handle the food with gloves or paper towels, sealing it in a plastic bag before disposal, and to sanitize any surfaces that may have come into contact with the product. For refunds, consumers can send a receipt and product photos to info@answerspetfood.com.
