Salmonella poses risks to both pets and humans. Infected pets may experience lethargy, diarrhea, fever, or vomiting, while humans handling contaminated food may develop nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. Severe cases can lead to more serious conditions. Pet owners noticing symptoms in their pets should contact a veterinarian.
The contamination was confirmed after the North Carolina Department of Agriculture tested a sample on January 8, 2025. The FDA notified the company of the positive test result on January 27, 2025.
Consumers should return or dispose of the recalled product and sanitize any surfaces it touched. Do not sell, donate, or feed it to animals. For more information, contact Blue Ridge Beef at 704-873-2072.
